Astrid
Buy and sell Bittensor subnet alpha with an ordinary EVM wallet. No Polkadot extension, no bridge in the trade path, and nothing to deploy before a subnet becomes tradable.
The idea
Bittensor splits its emissions across subnets, and each subnet has its own token, called alpha or dTAO. Holding a subnet's alpha is a position in that subnet. Buying it has historically meant running Bittensor tooling and a Substrate wallet.
Astrid removes that. Subtensor runs an EVM at chain 964 alongside its Substrate runtime, and exposes staking to it through a precompile at 0x805. A trade is one call to that precompile from a normal EVM account, so MetaMask is the only wallet involved.
What you can do
| What it is | |
|---|---|
| Trade | Buy and sell any subnet's alpha in a single transaction, priced on the subnet's own curve. |
| Portfolio | Your alpha across subnets, valued against the live price of each. |
| Bridge | Move USDC between Ethereum, Base, Solana and Bittensor, and swap it for TAO. |
| Earn | Supply liquidity to the TAO/USDC pool on Bittensor and collect fees. |
| Borrow | Lend and borrow against sTAO collateral. |
What you need
- An EVM wallet. MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet all work.
- TAO on Bittensor EVM, chain 964. There are three ways to get it, and the cheapest needs no bridge at all.
You do not need a Polkadot or Bittensor wallet at any point, including to receive TAO.
The network
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | Bittensor EVM |
| Chain ID | 964 |
| Currency | TAO |
| RPC | https://lite.chain.opentensor.ai |
| Explorer | https://evm.taostats.io |
You should not need to add this by hand. Connecting a wallet and pressing Switch to Bittensor adds the network with these settings if your wallet does not already have it.
