Bridge
Move USDC between Bittensor and Ethereum, Base or Solana, and convert it to TAO once it arrives.
What crosses
| Asset | Between | Via |
|---|---|---|
| USDC | Ethereum, Base, Solana and Bittensor | Hyperlane |
| taoUSD | Bittensor to Ethereum | Hyperlane |
| TAO | Bittensor Substrate and Bittensor EVM | Native |
If you only want TAO in your EVM wallet, you almost certainly do not need the TAO route above. Sending TAO to your own Bittensor address already puts it there. See Getting TAO.
Bridge swap
Bridge swap combines two steps into one flow: it bridges USDC to Bittensor and swaps it for TAO on arrival. This is the route to use if your value is USDC on another chain and you want to end up able to trade.
It shows a Hyperlane bridge fee and an estimated time before you confirm. Crossing chains usually takes a minute or two.
Why USDC and not ETH
Bridges are deployed routes, not a general capability. Hyperlane currently has one route reaching Bittensor and it carries USDC. Until a route exists for another asset, that asset cannot cross directly, which is why ETH has to become USDC somewhere first.
Costs
- Bridge fee, charged by Hyperlane and shown before you confirm.
- Gas on both sides, in the source chain's currency and then in TAO.
- Swap cost if you convert to TAO, which is the Uniswap fee plus price impact on the
TAO/USDCpool.
